Slurry Extension

Bio-slurry is the decompose product produced from organic materials in a reduction process in presence of anaerobic microbes in the digester of biogas plant and came out from the hydraulic chamber. It is digested slurry from biodigester is the top natural fertilizer consisting in general of 93% water, 7% dry matter of which 4.5% is organic and 2.5 % is inorganic matter. In addition, liquid bio-slurry obtained from the biogas plant may be considered as a good source and quality of organic fertilizer as it contains considerable amounts of both macro and micro nutrients. This organic fertilizer is environmental friendly, has no toxic or harmful effects.

The bio-slurry coming out of the digester has the following special characteristics:
  • When fully digested, effluent is odourless and does not attract insects or flies in the open.
  • The effluent repels termites whereas raw dung attracts them and they can harm plants fertilised with farmyard manure (FYM).
  • Effluent used as fertiliser reduces weed growth with about 50%. When FYM is used the undigested weed seeds cause an increased weed growth.
  • Composted effluent and effluent used as liquid fertilisers have a greater fertilising value than FYM or fresh dung. This because nitrogen is available in a form that can be immediately absorbed, for some crops it is superior to chemical fertiliser.
  • Bio-slurry is an excellent soil conditioner as it adds humus and supports the micro-biological activity in the soil increasing the soil porosity and water holding capacity. Bio-slurry compost will add organic matter to the soil.

If bio-slurry is properly used and managed, biogas farmers can save an average of 20 tons from bio-slurry compost per year and will be produced in substitute to chemical fertilizer in applying with most suitable for organic farming and horticultural crops including vegetables, fruit, flowering as well as ornamental plants and forest nurseries.

Bio-slurry has multi benefits diverting as slurry based fertilizer; it increase rice production 30% and minimize 50% of animal food from market in mixing as fish, animal feeding and botanical fertilizer and earthworm feeding.
